Meebo IM
Meebo IM is, as the name suggests, an instant messaging client. Meebo IM stands apart from the rest of the dedicated clients because it supports all of the following instant messaging networks: AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, ICQ, Facebook, MySpace, and any Jabber based network. You can stay logged-in to more than one service at a time, and manage your friends list separately for each one – very useful if you have a personal and business-related accounts as separate ones. The app uses your Verizon’s data service and doesn’t touch the SMS service at all (some IM clients talk to the server through SMS messages, ugh).
The app is super easy to use and you’ll get the hang of running more than one service at the same time quite quickly. Adding a service or a buddy is very straightforward, and once you’re setup you can just start messaging with no worries. If you create a Meebo account on the website, your chat history is saved on the server and is accessible through the web-interface. It does use a good amount of the Droid Incredible’s battery if you leave it running in the background while logged-in to multiple services, but that’s to be expected and the app has come a long way in this respect compared to when it first launched. Play with it for a bit and see what level of battery usage you’re comfortable with and adjust your usage accordingly.
