Pintail
Pintail helps your retrieve your Droid Incredible in case you’ve been careless enough to let it be stolen or lost. Pintail does one thing – it sends a text message with the current location of your Droid Incredible when it receives a pin-encoded text message from you. Say you’ve lose your Incredible, you can use your friend’s phone (any phone that can send a text message) to send an sms to your Incredible’s number. Pintail will then send a reply back via sms to that very phone with it’s current location. Unlike other recovery apps, Pintail doesn’t need a cellular data connection, it’s all done via sms.
You send the PIN as the text of your first message. You can configure various aspects of the app such as placing a limit on the number of times the app can be queried, or the lag in location update time. If you share your PIN with friends and family they can use it to query your current location (though there are much better apps to do this if you use this feature often). This Droid Incredible app is completely free and doesn’t require a sign-up on a website (other recovery apps do) and also uses a method that is quite low on battery usage. A useful app that can act as insurance against theft or loss of your wonderful new Droid Incredible.
